Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai 100x Kuta (+62 (0)361 761 263)
You can buy a local SIM card for your phone here, they are available almost everywhere, with a large number of service providers. Once you purchase a SIM card you can top it up by purchasing "pulsa" in varying amounts.
The local Intaran market (just around the corner) is the place to buy your fresh produce, and a great place to save money but be up early if you want the best buys. There is a local supermarket on Jalan Danau Buyan where you can purchase everything that you require from toiletries to fresh foods. Hardy's is another supermarket in Jalan Danau Tamblingan, which stocks more goods that suit our expat visitors. They have a supermarket on the ground floor with gifts, clothes, stationary etc. on the upper floors. If you are buying drinks from the chiller don't be surprised to be charged a little extra, its what happens here in Bali.
Night markets or "Pasar Sindhu" is at the start of Jl Danau Tamblingan, and is well worth a visit for all sorts of items. It's also a good place to sample some of the local food from the street sellers there. In the morning the market is full of fresh produce, but a little dearer than Intaran.
If you have a craving for western style food while your here you will find Pizza Hut, McDonalds and J.CO at the traffic lights on Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai. About 1km from Griya Asri. If you fancy KFC or Dunkin Donuts they can be found at the next set of lights on the corner of Jl Hang Tuah opposite Sanur Paradise Hotel.
Bartering is an every day event here; most local shops will expect you to barter with them.
You can hire a motorbike just about anywhere in Bali. We can arrange a well-serviced bike for you. Law requires an International, or local license. Your dealer may not insist on the license but the local police enjoy stopping tourists and handing out on the spot "fines".
Many places will rent you a bicycle for half or full day, they are very cheap. We can organise a well-serviced bike for you through www.sanurcycletours.com.
SURF BOARD HIRE:
There are plenty of boards to be hired along the beach, by the hour or day. Just make sure you get the right one for you at a fair price.
When changing money the main concern is where can to get the best rate. You will see a vast range of exchange rates as you walk around the streets; sadly the highest rate is usually not the best rate. Many scams have been operated here in Bali but mainly in Kuta, Seminyak areas including rigged calculators, dropping money behind the desk while its being counted or charging a large commission reducing the actual amount you receive. Play safe and use a reputable dealer. There are a couple of large places in Jl Danau Tamblingan that use the note counters that banks use. Wherever you change money make sure you always count it twice and that you are the last person to touch it. We recommend using BMC Sanur on Jalan. Danau Tamblingan, No. 18.
